Treat your website like a salesperson, not a brochure

A brochure sits there. A salesperson answers questions, builds trust and asks for the job. Your website should do the same.

Most small business websites are built like brochures: a nice picture, a list of services, and a contact page buried in the menu. Brochures don't book jobs.

A good salesperson does three things: answers the question the customer actually has, proves they can be trusted, and asks for the business. Your website should do all three on every page.

Start with the headline. It should say what you do and where you do it, in plain words. Then show proof — real reviews, real photos of your work. Finally, make the next step obvious: a call or quote button that's visible without scrolling.

Before you spend another dollar on ads or SEO, ask yourself: if my website were a salesperson, would I keep it on the team?
